Often times we hear about what wives want their husbands to know about their pregnancy, but I wanted to get an inside scoop on what it’s like from a guy’s perspective. (If you missed my post about my perspective, don’t forget to check it out!) I put on my investigator hat and got to work! Here are my findings! Shout out to my hubby for getting detailed about his experience!
1. Pregnancy Ain’t Easy
Him: “I wish I knew what you were going through physically so that I could be of better service when I’d want to help you with things.”
Me: It was definitely a rough beginning for me. The changes that were going on in my body was so new to me. I was EXAUSTED, and still am, quite often. Just a little takes a lot out of me.
2. Nausea/Morning Sickness Sucks
Him: “I wish I knew about more ways to help you overcome your nausea better.”
Me: I think this is probably one of the worst pregnancy symptoms known to man. Give me pain… but nausea. Please NO. There were so many times where my hubby warmed something up in the microwave or cooked something, and I COULD NOT even be in the same room. I was upset because I had to open windows and turn on vents because the smell made my nausea worse!! Thankfully, that symptom has died down a bit, but the struggle was TOO real.
3. Food Aversions Are Intense
Him: “I didn’t realize how difficult it would be for you to eat because of morning sickness and food aversions. At first, I didn’t understand why you were making odd requests to pick up food from multiple locations for one dinner.”
Me: I can’t say I’m proud of those moments, but that was my reality for a few weeks honestly! I didn’t necessarily have cravings, but I had aversions to what seemed to be everything. I ate quite a bit a lot of pizza and Skinny Fats fries. What can I say?
4. Two Words: Pregnancy Hormones
Him: “I wish I know about the intensity of pregnancy hormones. That way, I could have had more grace through it.”
Me: I’m sorry for all of the times that I was easily irritable!! It’s the hormones, I promise! But seriously, often times, I am feeling so much at once so the slightest annoyance is amplified times ten!
5. The sex drive isn’t what it used to be
Him: “I didn’t realize how low the sex drive would be so it was definitely an adjustment. It took me a while to fully understand what you were going through and I support you.”
Me: Yeeeeeaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. But let me just tell y’all, it was rough at first, but I am so thankful for my hubby who is in a place where I never have to feel bad if it doesn’t happen as often as it used to. I even have to keep reminding myself that this is just a season!
BONUS QUESTIONS BELOW!
What are you most looking forward to?
“Being an influencer and example to our child, pouring into him, and showing him what God’s love looks like through our marriage. I’m excited to celebrate the accomplishments of our son and be there for him when he is going through hard times. I also love that I get to be by your side while we are there for our child and that we get to enjoy special moments together as a complete family.”
What are you proud of?
“I’m proud of YOU for working and going through pregnancy at the same time. When I watched you holding our friend’s baby, I was reminded of how great of a mom you’re going to be because you’re a natural. I’m going to have to take lessons from you, haha.
Me: *BRB SWOONING*
What have you been feeling throughout our pregnancy so far?
“I have been excited about having a family of our own. At times, I have fear about how I’ll be the best provider and how I’m going to be a good example to the baby. I’m trying my best to develop and overcome my weaknesses so that I don’t pass them onto our son as he looks up to me. I went through big rollercoaster ride when there were potential lay offs at work; it was scary. But, I realized that God was there through it all and that He has always been a protector and provider; He won’t fail. Now, I’m just impatient and anxious because I want to meet our baby so bad, especially after starting our registry and imagining what they’ll look like in all those baby clothes. Oh, and during all of the miscarriage scares, I was definitely overwhelmed in those moments but I’m so thankful that the baby is still healthy and growing. I’m also thankful to have a good, supporting crew of community, family, and friends.
What are your favorite ways to bond with our baby?
I try my best to feel the baby moving and give good bye kisses to not only you but our baby as well. I also enjoy praying for him; it’s my hope that one day he will be on fire for the Lord and make a difference in this broken world.
And there ya have it, folks! I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about my hubby!

Yeah, I think pregnancy is a “rude awakening” for most men… and most women too for that manner! Ha!

What a sweet post! What an exciting time for the both of you! I think men definitely underestimate pregnancy. I’m not a mom yet, but I witnessed my mom have three pregnancies when I was much older so I saw it all! My fiancé is clueless ahah!!

I love how you did it through your husband’s views. When I was pregnant my husband could not understand why I got sick Everytime I was in his diesel truck the smell ? or if someone was smoking a cigarette 3 cars ahead of us ? I wish they understood better
